Oxytocin 100IU Protocol Guide
✓ Verified dosing (fact-checked against FDA labels / published trials): FDA-approved (obstetric, injectable ONLY): IV labor induction — dilute 10 units in 1,000 mL diluent (10 mU/mL); start 0.5-2 mU/min, titrate in 1-2 mU/min increments. Postpartum hemorrhage — 10 units IM or as IV infusion after delivery. There is NO FDA-approved oral, nasal, or 'as-needed before social context' dosing. Off-label intranasal (compounded, NOT FDA-approved):… This supersedes any conflicting figures shown elsewhere on this page; confirm with a licensed provider.
Oxytocin is a naturally occurring cyclic nonapeptide hormone produced in the hypothalamus. It is researched for social bonding, anxiety reduction, trust and empathy modulation, and potential applications in autism spectrum and mood disorder studies.

Reconstitution Instructions
Oxytocin is typically supplied as an intranasal spray. No reconstitution is required for pre-filled spray devices. If supplied as lyophilized powder, reconstitute per vial instructions with sterile water.
Materials Needed
- 100IU Oxytocin 100IU vial (lyophilized powder)
- Intranasal spray bacteriostatic water (sterile, preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol)
- Sterile syringe and needle (18-22 gauge for drawing)
- Alcohol swabs
- Clean workspace
Step-by-Step Process
- Preparation: Allow the Oxytocin 100IU vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature. Wipe the rubber stoppers of both vials with an alcohol swab.
- Draw the Water: Using a sterile syringe, draw up exactly Intranasal spray of bacteriostatic water. Expel any air bubbles.
- Inject into Vial: Insert the needle through the rubber stopper at a slight angle, aiming toward the glass wall. Slowly inject the water down the side of the vial to avoid foaming.
- Mix Gently: Remove the needle. Gently swirl or roll the vial between your hands. Do not shake vigorously.
- Check for Clarity: The solution should be clear once fully reconstituted. Do not use if cloudy.
